Bajwa calls upon voters to pack off Khanna to Mumbai

Gurdaspur: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President , Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, who is seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha from Gurdaspur, today appealed to the people to send back with bag and baggage the Akali Dal-BJP candidate, Mr. Vinod Khanna, to Mumbai and show proper place to the Aam Aadmi Party candidate Mr. Sucha Singh Chhotepur, who was a rank opportunist. He said Mr. Khanna was an alien to Gurdaspur despite having represented this seat earlier as he had nothing to do with this area. He never visited this region after having been defeated in the last Lok Sabha election. He said Mr. Khanna had come back from Mumbai only after the BJP announced his name. He said while Mr. Khanna was a paratrooper from Mumbai, Mr. Chhotepur, was a rank opportunist who had been changing his parties almost every day. He said his loyalty had always been under suspicion in every party he joined. His only priority was self-interest. “How a person like Mr. Chhotepur who is not loyal to any party can be committed to the people”, he asked. He said Mr. Khanna was sent here to take yet another chance as the BJP was perceiving a wave in the name of its prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Narendra Modi but the party failed to assess the anger of the people against the Akali Dal-BJP alliance government in the state. He said Mr. Modi was a nonissue in Punjab and the people were fully resolved to take a revenge against the current rulers who had been treating them with scorn. He said it was the Parkash Singh Badal government which had scuttled the projects like the railway coach factory at Kalanaur and the Beas-Qadian railway line by not allotting land. He said the central university which was to be set up in Gurdaspur district was taken by Bathinda district by Mr. Badal. He said this was high time for the people of Gurdaspur to avenge this vindictive attitude of the Badal government. Moreover, the people had suffered enough by way of facing false police cases as part of the politics of vendetta resorted to by the Akali goons. He called upon the people to exercise their choice judiciously and defeat the forces of regression represented by Mr. Khanna and the forces of opportunism symbolised by Mr. Chhotepur. He said it was ironic that a party like the Akali Dal which used to espouse the cause of minorities for years was now projecting a divisive leader like Mr. Modi as the next prime minister and there could be nothing more unfortunate than this.
Bajwa condemns attack on Tribune scribe
Chandigarh: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, today strongly condemned the dastardly attack on The Tribune group senior journalist Mr. Devinder Pal. In a statement issued here today, he said the only ‘crime’ of Mr. Devinder Pal was that he had exposed as to how the immediate and extended family of the Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, had built an empire after coming into power. The family members include his son and the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, the son-in-law Mr. Adesh Partap Singh Kairon and the Revenue Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia. Mr. Majithia is the brother of Mr. Sukhbir Badal’s wife Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur. Mr. Bajwa demanded high level inquiry at least by a sitting judge of the high court to go into the huge amassing of wealth by the Badal family.
Bajwa appeals to brave Punjabis to dump Akali Dal-BJP alliance forever
Chandigarh: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, today called upon the brave people of this state to throw out the evil Akali Dal-BJP alliance which was synonymous with corruption, misrule, smuggling, goonda raj and anti-people policies by taking the giant step when they go to the polling booths tomorrow. In a statement issued here today, he said now was the time to convert their anger against this arrogant, autocratic and despotic regime into a tidal wave to cleanse this sacred land of these wicked and vile forces. He said here was a government which would go into history as the one under whose rule sand was sold at the rate of sugar. What was more easily available were narcotics being manufactured within the state under the patronage of the powerful Akali leaders. He said it was not an ordinary election to elect people’s representatives but what was at stake was their destiny and the idea of India itself which historically, is unity in diversity and secularism. There was no greater symbol representing the secular Indian culture than the Golden Temple which is open on all four sides, open to every human being on this earth without any distinction of caste and creed, where everybody is equal. He said the prime ministerial candidate of the Akali Dal-BJP alliance, Mr. Narendra Modi, was anti-thesis of this very idea of India going by his track record as the chief minister of Gujarat, besides the caustic comments of some of his associates against minorities. Moreover, the Gujarat model of development was seriously flawed which favoured only the rich. He said such ideas were alien to the this land that is Punjab. He said the Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, initially talked of development but sensing anger among the people whom they could not misled by their white lies, started seeking votes in the name of Mr. Modi but soon realised there was no Modi wave. “Harsimrat Kaur Badal, wife of the Deputy Chief Minister who is seeking re-election as the Akali Dal-BJP alliance candidate from Bathinda has candidly admitted that there is no Modi wave. She has gone to the extent of saying at Talwandi Sabo that the people don’t relate to Mr. Modi in this region. This observation of her flies in the face of the entire campaign of the Badals who have been parroting Mr. Modi’s name day in and day out”, he added. Mr. Bajwa said the level to which the Akali leaders could fail to seek votes was evident from the way the Revenue Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Mr. Sukhbir Badal’s brother-in-law, committed the heinous crime of tweaking Gurbani. He said this represented the lowest level of degeneration of the Akali leaders to seek votes. History had never forgiven such people. He said the response of the people to the Congress during the entire campaign had been overwhelming and they came out openly to register their protest against the crimes of the Badal government. He said tomorrow when they go to the polling booths, they should press the open hand button with the firm resolve to start the process for the eradication of this atrocious alliance. He cautioned the people against the unfair means and corrupt practices including allurements to be resorted to by the Akali Dal-BJP alliance leaders. He said the people in their respective areas should remain vigilant against the efforts of the alliance leaders to distribute money and liquor and get hold of the elements resorting to such unethical and illegal means.
